How I got well and How I can help you

My story continues…. my path to wellness

I am still figuring my health out, but I am so much healthier than I was. I have lost 50 pounds, and I don’t hurt anymore when I wake up.  I still have some weight to lose.  I still have an occasional flare, with inflammation and pain, but most days I feel great now!

I am currently in the middle of a toxic metal detox, and hopefully, this will remove the blocks to my remaining weight loss.

I can help you lose weight too!

I have learned to take care of me, added simple exercise into my routine, added meditation early every morning (it’s much easier than I was making it out to be). I am enjoying morning papers, a 30-minute writing exercise before meditation. I have learned how to breathe.

You are important.  You have to learn to refill your own cup if you are going to be able to support everyone else in your life.  I can teach you how to do that.

I am cooking 90% of the food I eat, enjoying the farmers market every Sat morning. Some weeks I get veggies from a local farm delivered in the middle of the night.  I am a brand new Cheryl with a brand new focus.

You can learn to shop for healthy food and cook it too.  Eating real food gives your body fuel to run on and heal.

I don’t eat most of the things I used to eat.  If I can’t pronounce it, I don’t eat it. Unless all of the ingredients are healthy, if there are more than 5 ingredients in an item, I think twice about buying it.

I can teach you what to eat that will make your body thrive. And it will taste great!

First of all, I did a sensitivity test.  I had a long list of foods that were causing my autoimmune reaction.  So I eliminated

  • Gluten, wheat, rye
  • Buckwheat
  • All Dairy, cheese, milk, yogurt,
  • Basil
  • Mint
  • Mustard
  • Fennel
  • Sage
  • Soy
  • Chicken
  • Green Beans
  • Artichokes
  • Canola Oil
  • Flax
  • Potatoes

Some of the pain began to fade away.

The best part is I am not deprived.  I have found work-a-rounds. We eat very well.  We eat delicious food. We eat lots of veggies, clean meat, and happy eggs.  I avoid gluten.  And best of all, I feel good and am on my way to feeling great.  I am happy.

And….I learned there are many kinds of food and not all of them go into my mouth.

Eating well is not difficult, and it’s not about deprivation. Eating well doesn’t have to be hard.

I have learned that all calories are not created equal.  The culprit was sugar….and chemicals that impacted my weight, my diabetes, and my blood pressure.

OK, getting the sugar out is a bit of a withdrawal….but it only takes 10 days to 2 to 4 weeks and coming out the other side of this is empowering and a life changer.  (I was so addicted I got sick as a dog, like having the bad flu.  Literally, I went through drug withdrawal.  But it was so worth it!)

This is something that I bet your doctor never told you:  To lose weight, all the body systems need to work together.  If they don’t work together it is difficult to get blood sugar and high blood pressure under control and very difficult to lose weight.

Next removing the toxins out of my life was a journey unto itself and I would love to show you how to get them out of yours too.  Eliminating toxins = a healthy body, a healthy environment and a healthy family.

I have eliminated as many toxins out of my life as possible, from my foods to my cosmetics,(my makeup, my skin care, my shampoos), to my house cleaning supplies, to my air.  My husband teases me that I am a toxin alarm that goes off for any toxin in a 50-mile radius. I am one of the 20% that is impacted by mold. I just started a heavy metal detox, since I am loaded with mercury, lead, copper, arsenic, aluminum. (Thank you Pittsburgh)  I am also loaded with herbicides… be tackled after heavy metals. (I have no idea where this city girl got all the herbicides in my system, even though it is being sprayed on our food).  I have a hard time detoxing, and I have 2 methylation SNPs on my DNA, both of which I am tackling now.  These SNPs on my DNA are making detoxing even more difficult, but it can be done.

Over the counter drugs are no longer options for me.

(I have natural hacks that work. The drugs were ruining my gut, and or my liver)  My long term goal now is to also get off my diabetes and blood pressure meds.

I can teach you how to get off of over the counter meds that are screwing around with your gut and your liver….and your long term health. You don’t have to trade pain for harming your body.  You can eliminate the pain with things that your body will thrive on.

I have learned that the gut is the second brain.  If you don’t have a healthy gut, and great poop, you can’t have a healthy body. This is usually the first place to start.

Having a healthy gut improves mood, digestion, poop, your hormones, your liver, your sugar level, your cholesterol, your mind. It is where inflammation is born and where it will die. Having a healthy gut improves everything.

I have learned to kill the ANTS* (  “Automatic Negative Thoughts.”  )

Wouldn’t it feel great to not be dealing with all those negative thoughts all the time?  Geeze…

I have learned so much. I want to share it with you.  We only go this way once.  I want to be your Muse to inspire you to be your own advocate for a healthy and vibrant life.

I want to share all the tools you will need to create a wonderful healthy and happy life for yourself.

  • What I can teach you does not interfere with your doctor’s care, and is in addition to what your doctor is recommending. As you work with me, we will find healthy solutions that are lifestyle related. Simple changes can make an enormous difference in your health.
  • I am not a doctor, a nutritionist or a dietitian. As your certified health coach, I can help you in different ways than those health professionals.
  • As your health coach, I will provide the support to make the changes necessary for wellness.
  • We won’t just talk about food, and eating clean and healthy recipes, we will talk about your food sensitivities, sleep,  primary elements (things you do to replenish your soul), your life balance, ANTS*, breathing, stress, and cleaning toxins out of your body, your environment, your cosmetics, and your life.)

Working together we will clean up your gut, which is the gateway to health.


I will listen to and “hear” what you are telling me so that together we will find sustainable solutions to solve your health problems.

We will spend delicious time together all about you. I will teach you to “own” your own health, and become your own health advocate, no matter who the other health professionals are that you are working with.

After all, age is a privilege which I am very grateful for, and I plan to enjoy mine.  It’s not about living longer, it’s about living healthier all the way.


*ANTS is a term coined by Dr. Daniel Amen  “Automatic Negative Thoughts.”  Also, in my case, known partially as worry, lots and lots of worry, and negative thoughts about me, with a big dose of fear, and insecurity. All buried under the surface.  A lot of if onlys, then I could… know, Coulda, wouldas   I had a healthy dose of “ANTS” when I started my get well journey, and I am now, relatively, ANT Free.
